What is Silent Counselling?
Silent Counselling is a form of energy therapy. It has its origins in the ancient Chinese discovery of a complex system of energy circuits around the body, also known as meridians. These form the basis of some of the Eastern practices you may be more aware of such as acupuncture, acupressure and a variety of other healing techniques in use today.
Just as blood flows through our veins, energy flows through our meridians so when there is a block in this flow all sorts of dis-ease and challenges can occur and these may be physical, mental, emotional or spiritual. As the body is home to our unconscious mind, it remembers everything on a cellular level – as is often said by those who work with trauma ‘the body keeps the score’.
In Silent Counselling we are looking at releasing negative energy that may have become blocked by using touch on specific meridian points and breath work. We work through this process quite quickly and quietly, without the need to talk, hence the name Silent Counselling.
What happens during a session?
At the start of the session you will be asked to state briefly the nature of the issue you are struggling with and how this is affecting you. It can be helpful to give it a rating to determine its severity so we can assess how it has changed at the end of the session. I will then use a technique called muscle testing to determine a time frame for the root cause of your issues and which meridian points are the key ones for releasing the blocked energy. I will then guide you through a process where you will be asked to hold these points and connect to a particular emotional state whilst doing some deep breathing. People can experience the resulting energy release in a variety of ways – physical sensations in the body, feelings of tension release, feeling emotional or visual images or memories – there is no ‘right way’ to experience this. We will finish the session with a clearing sequence and a focus on a positive emotional state and affirmation.
I will usually allow a bit longer for an initial Silent Counselling session if you have not been a counselling client. This is so that we have time to establish the target for the session and so I can explain the process. Silent Counselling sessions are charged at the same rate of £50 per hour, and this will be on a pro rata basis if we do need to spend a bit more time (This will not usually exceed an extra half hour)
